BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH LIFT BEFORE & AFTERS

WHAT IS A BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH LIFT?

A breast augmentation with lift (augmentation mastopexy) is a combination procedure that enhances breast size, restores lost volume, and corrects sagging to achieve a youthful breast contour. This surgery is perfect for women who want to rejuvenate their appearance and regain confidence in their bodies.

There are a number of reasons why women choose a Breast Augmentation with Lift procedure including:

  • Post-Pregnancy: To restore breast volume and firmness after pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Weight Changes: To correct breast shape and size after weight loss.
  • Aging: To combat sagging and loss of firmness over time.
  • Confidence: To achieve a natural, proportionate look that enhances your body’s overall appearance.

At AestheticsMD, conveniently located in Newport Beach, our breast experts specialize in creating personalized solutions for every patient. We’ll guide you through every consideration, helping you understand your options for shape, volume, and balance. Whether you’re seeking a breast lift, augmentation, or a combination of both, our expert team ensures a seamless experience from consultation to recovery.

BREAST LIFT WITH AUGMENTATION TECHNIQUE

Enhancing Volume and Achieving Your Ideal Shape

Breast Augmentation is designed to enhance the size and volume of your breasts using implants. A Breast Lift improves the shape and “perkiness” of the breast. Combined, these procedures create a beautiful result that can restore a woman’s youthful body and confidence.

In a Breast Augmentation, implants can be placed either under or on top of the chest muscle. However, Dr. Anton typically recommends placing implants under the muscle (submuscular position) for a more natural appearance and to reduce the risk of complications, such as capsular contracture.

The Pre-Operative Process: Personalized Sizing for Your Goals

At AestheticsMD, we prioritize your satisfaction by offering a comprehensive three-step sizing process to help you achieve your desired look:

  1. At-Home Sizing

Before your appointment, you’ll receive instructions on creating nylon bags filled with flax seed. Placing these in your bra gives you a general idea of how your breasts may look after surgery, preparing you for the in-office sizing experience.

  1. Photo Guidance

We encourage you to bring four photos of naked breasts from our website or another that you admire, focusing on balance and proportions that align with your goals. Additionally, include four photos of sizes that feel too big or small for you. Choosing examples that reflect your preferred shape allows the consultation to focus on achieving your desired volume.

  1. In-Office Sizing

At your pre-operative appointment, bring a tight-fitting shirt and a bra that reflects your preferred size. Using external gel sizers, you’ll see how different implant sizes look and feel. This process helps determine your ideal implant range before surgery. On the morning of your surgery, your surgeon will review your photos and finalized implant sizing range to ensure your goals are met.

Combining Breast Augmentation with Lift: Sculpting and Elevating

While a Breast Augmentation enhances volume, combining it with a Breast Lift refines the shape and position of your breasts. Depending on your anatomy and aesthetic goals, your surgeon may recommend one of the following lift techniques:

Crescent Lift

Ideal for minor adjustments, the Crescent Lift raises the nipple-areolar complex (NAC) by 1–1.5 cm by removing a crescent-shaped piece of skin above the nipple. This technique focuses on superficial changes and does not address underlying breast tissue.

Circumareolar Lift

This technique lifts the N-A complex by 1.5–2.5 cm, making it suitable for patients with nipples that sit slightly lower than desired but have a naturally tight lower breast curve.

Super Breast Lift (AestheticsMD Signature Procedure)

For more significant changes, the Super Breast Lift offers a comprehensive solution by tightening and lifting the underlying breast tissues, removing excess skin, and repositioning the nipple areolar complex for an ideal shape.

  • Triple Dermal Tightening Technique: Targets the nipple-areolar dermis, lower breast curve dermis, and lower breast fold dermis for a more supported and longer-lasting lift.
  • No Post-Operative Drains Required: Recovery is smoother and more comfortable.
  • Long-Lasting Results: Achieve a better breast shape that holds over time.
  • Transform Your Confidence

BENEFITS OF A BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH LIFT

Breast augmentation offers numerous benefits beyond enhancing the physical appearance of the breasts. One of the most significant advantages is the boost in self-confidence and self-esteem that many women experience post-surgery.

Feeling satisfied with your body can positively affect various aspects of your life, from personal relationships to professional interactions. Enhanced breast size and shape can also improve the fit of your clothing, allowing you to explore new styles and wear form-fitting outfits with confidence. Whether it’s a fitted dress, a swimsuit, or everyday attire, you’ll feel more comfortable and self-assured in your wardrobe choices.

In addition to aesthetic improvements, breast augmentation can also restore volume lost due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, or significant weight loss. This restoration can help achieve a more youthful and balanced body contour, enhancing your overall appearance.

Breast augmentation patients experience a wide range of benefits, including:

  • Increased confidence
  • Improved body proportion
  • Enhanced clothing fit
  • Improved breast symmetry
  • Restored Breast Volume
  • More youthful appearance

CONSULTATION, PREPARATION & PROCEDURE

A Breast Augmentation with Lift is more than a cosmetic procedure—it’s a transformative journey toward greater confidence and self-expression.

If you’re considering a Breast Augmentation with Lift, understanding the consultation process, preparation, and procedure will help you make informed decisions and achieve the best results. This surgery not only enhances breast size but also restores a youthful shape and position, providing you with renewed confidence.

Step 1: Start with Your Consultation

Your journey begins with a consultation, where your surgeon will determine if a Breast Augmentation with Lift is the right choice for you.

One of the key assessments involves measuring sagging (ptosis). This is done by checking the distance between the sternal notch (the dip at the base of your neck) and your nipple.

  • Ideal Measurement: About 20 cm, give or take.
  • Longer Measurement: A lift may be needed for optimal results.

During this visit, your surgeon will walk you through your options:

  • Superficial Nipple-Areolar Complex Lift: For minor sagging, focusing on surface adjustments.
  • Super Breast Lift: Tightens deeper tissues for a more sculpted and long-lasting result.

You’ll also discuss your implant preferences, including silicone or saline, and work together to create a personalized plan that fits your anatomy and goals.

Step 2: Choosing the Right Implants

Selecting the right implant is both a personal and aesthetic decision. Your surgeon will guide you through your options to find the best match for your body and preferences. Here’s how the two main implant types compare:

Saline Implants

  • What They Are: A silicone shell filled with sterile saltwater.
  • Benefits:
    • Smaller incisions.
    • Size adjustments can be made during surgery.
    • Easy detection of ruptures—saline is safely absorbed by the body.
  • Feel: Firmer than silicone.
  • Best For:
    • Lower-cost options.
    • Women who value easy leak detection.

Silicone Implants

  • What They Are: A silicone shell filled with cohesive silicone gel that mimics natural breast tissue.
  • Benefits:
    • Soft, natural feel.
    • Minimal rippling under the skin.
    • Gel stays intact even if the shell ruptures.
  • Feel: Closest to natural breast tissue.
  • Best For:
    • Women seeking a natural look and feel.
    • Those with less natural breast tissue for added coverage.

Your surgeon will also discuss implant size and profile to ensure the results align perfectly with your goals.

Step 3: Preparing for Surgery

Preparing for your surgery is an essential step to ensure a smooth experience and recovery. At your pre-operative appointment, the Clinical Coordinator will:

  • Go over consents, medications to avoid, and post-operative care instructions.
  • Help with implant sizing and review required labs.

You’ll also need to complete these pre-surgery requirements:

  • A current mammogram or ultrasound.
  • For patients over 50, a current EKG is required.

Being well-prepared ensures you’re ready for surgery and sets the stage for a successful recovery.

Step 4: The Surgical Experience

On the day of your surgery, you arrive at our beautiful boutique surgery center located next door to the Aesthetics MD offices. Your Breast Augmentation with Breast Lift will be performed in an outpatient facility under general anesthesia. Surgery time is typically 4 – 4.5 hours.

During your breast augmentation with lift, your surgeon will focus on creating a natural and balanced result tailored to your unique anatomy and goals. The procedure begins with an incision along the inframammary fold (the crease under your breast). From there, the surgeon creates a precise pocket to place the implant. Surgical sizers are often used during this step to ensure the perfect volume and symmetry.

Next, the breast lift portion of the procedure tightens internal tissues and removes any excess skin to achieve a firmer, more youthful shape. The incisions for the lift are carefully placed to minimize visibility—they typically circle the areola, run vertically down the lower breast, and may extend along the inframammary fold, depending on the level of lift needed.

Every detail of the surgery is customized to suit your body and aesthetic preferences, ensuring a natural, proportionate result that enhances your confidence and appearance.

    BREAST AUGMENTATION WITH LIFT RECOVERY

Breast Augmentation with Lift is a transformative procedure, and understanding the recovery process is essential for achieving the best results. Below is an overview of what you can expect during recovery, along with tips for a smooth healing journey.

In the initial days following surgery, soreness and discomfort are common. However, these symptoms are typically manageable with prescribed pain medications. It’s important to be prepared for some physical limitations during this period. For the first several weeks, you’ll need to adhere to strict activity restrictions to promote healing. Avoid any activity that raises your heart rate or blood pressure, such as exercise, heavy lifting, bending, or even walking the dog. This is a time to focus on rest and self-care to allow your body the opportunity to heal properly.

Your incisions will be covered with surgical tape, which protects the wounds and supports healing. Be sure to follow your surgeon’s instructions for keeping the area clean and avoiding irritation. Additionally, you will need to wear a surgical support bra for the first two weeks. After this initial period, you’ll transition to a supportive exercise bra to continue providing the necessary support.

It’s normal to experience bruising and swelling during the first one to two weeks. Don’t be alarmed if your implants initially sit high on your chest—this is temporary. Over the course of a few weeks, they will gradually settle into their intended position. To assist in this process, your surgeon will guide you on performing implant movement exercises several times a day. These exercises are crucial for ensuring that the implants settle naturally.

Most patients are able to return to work within 7 to 10 days, provided they can manage discomfort without the need for pain medication. However, strenuous activities, such as exercising or heavy lifting, should be avoided for at least four weeks to prevent complications.

One notable aspect of the Breast Augmentation with Lift is the absence of post-operative drains. By eliminating drains, the risk of infection is reduced, and overall comfort during recovery is improved. This modern approach leads to a safer and more pleasant experience.

    Tips for a Successful Recovery

    • Follow Instructions: Your surgeon’s guidance on wound care, activity limitations, and garment usage is essential for a smooth recovery.
    • Avoid Smoking and Alcohol: These can impair healing and increase the risk of complications.
    • Stay Hydrated and Eat Nutritiously: Proper hydration and a healthy diet support faster recovery and better overall outcomes.
    • Listen to Your Body: Rest when needed, and don’t push yourself if you feel discomfort or fatigue.

By prioritizing rest, adhering to recovery protocols, and staying in close contact with your surgical team, you can ensure a safer recovery and achieve the best possible outcome from your breast augmentation procedure.

    WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

The results of a breast augmentation with a lift are noticeable almost immediately after surgery. From the start, you’ll observe fuller, more voluminous breasts with a perkier appearance and a higher nipple position, reflecting the transformative effects of the procedure. However, it’s important to remember that the healing process takes time, and the initial appearance will evolve over the following months.

In the first few days after surgery, your breasts may appear swollen and could show slight bruising, which is completely normal. This initial swelling may obscure the final shape of your breasts, but it will gradually subside as your body heals. During the first few weeks, your implants may sit higher on the chest than expected. This is a natural part of the process as the implants settle into their proper position, creating a more natural look over time.

Scars from the surgery will be slightly red and more noticeable during the first three months. Fortunately, scars in the breast area tend to heal exceptionally well for most skin types. With proper care and time, they will fade significantly and are often barely visible. Using scar treatments recommended by your surgeon can further improve their appearance.

By several months post-surgery, you will see the full results of your breast augmentation with lift. The swelling will have subsided, the implants will have settled into place, and the scars will be much less noticeable. At this stage, your breasts will appear natural, youthful, and proportionate, reflecting the aesthetic goals of the procedure.

Patience is key during the recovery process, as the best results take time to fully develop. By following your surgeon’s post-operative instructions and maintaining proper care, you can ensure a smooth recovery and enjoy long-lasting, beautiful results from your breast augmentation with lift.

    frequently asked questions

    Ideal age for breast augmentation?
    Ideal age for breast augmentation?
Patients seeking this procedure range in age from 18 to 70 and beyond, as there is no “right age” for breast augmentation – it’s a personal choice based on individual preference and goals.
What implant size is right for me?

Cup size can be deceptive – and is only one part of the equation when determining the best implant size for your breast augmentation. Choosing the right implant size involves considering your body’s unique proportions, including chest width, shoulder width, and overall body frame.

When it comes to choosing the right breast implant size, you are the ultimate expert. That’s why we have created our very own Breast Implants Sizing Guide to help you find your ideal volume.

    1. At home, fill nylon baggies with 100 ml (that’s equal to 100cc) of flax seed. Breast implants range in size from 140 up to 800cc. Since not all breasts are of equal size, you may find you need more flax seed baggies in one breast than the other.
    2. Fill a bra with the nylon baggies until you reach the desired size. Mark down the total number of ml in each breast. These notes will provide a guideline for your in-office sizing.
    3. Continue to fill your bra until you reach a point that feels too big for your desired outcome.
    4. You will want to try on a tight shirt like a tank top and a loose top with your stuffed bra to see how it looks in clothes.
    5. On the day of your pre-op appointment, please bring in your bra, clothes you used for trying on at home, and any notes from your home flax seed exercise that will assist our Clinical Coordinator with helping you determine your ideal size. You do not need to bring in the nylon baggies filled with flax seed.
    6. Using gel sizers provided by the breast implant manufacturers, you will fill your bra until you reach the desired size. This is where your notes from the home exercise come in handy because they provide a range. The more you narrow your range, the easier your decision becomes.
    7. The final step is to see how you look and feel in clothes. Sometimes people change their minds about wanting to be bigger or smaller once they see how their new breasts might look in clothes.

It’s important not to get stuck on a number when you are choosing, there is very little difference, for example, between 300cc and 350cc implants. At the pre-op appointment, we outline a range of sizes to achieve the desired look. This is reinforced by the photos you provide showing what you want your breast volume to be.

    Is a breast lift included?

Breast augmentation and breast lift are two separate cosmetic surgeries; however, they are often performed together during breast enlargement surgery to create a harmonious result. A lift is often required to restore breast appearance that has changed over time due to hormones and breastfeeding or sagging with age.

During your consultation for breast augmentation, your goals will be assessed and used to create a tailored plan of recommended cosmetic procedures.

What types of breast implants are there?
What types of breast implants are there?

At Aesthetics MD in Newport Beach breast implants can be filled with a saline solution or a gel-like synthetic material called silicone. The type of implant can also vary in shape and the type of shells used to surround the contents.

Saline Breast Implants – traditional implants are filled with sterile salt water. If a leak or rupture occurs, the saline will be absorbed and safely expelled by your body. In addition, structured saline implants contain an inner structure that often makes the implants feel more natural. The FDA has approved saline breast implants for women aged 18 or older. In the past, women had to compromise the natural look and feel of silicone for the safety of saline. Today, the ideal implant is unique in its patented technology that offers the natural look and feel of silicone with the peace of mind of saline.

Silicone Breast Implants – are an implant type filled with a gel that feels more like natural breast tissue. If silicone breast implants leak, the gel usually remains within the implant shell but, in some cases, may escape. Therefore, these implants need regular medical follow-ups, including ultrasound or MRI exams, to ensure your implants are intact & functioning properly. Silicone implants are FDA-approved for use by women aged 22 or over. At Aesthetics MD, we offer a variety of implants by various manufacturers, including Allergan Natrelle, which provides a warranty against capsular contracture or rupture.

Gummy Bear Breast Implants – are a type of form stable breast implants filled with a cohesive silicone gel that maintains its shape and consistency, similar to the texture of a gummy bear candy. These implants are designed to provide a more natural look and feel compared to traditional saline or silicone implants. In the event of a rupture, the highly cohesive gel tends to stay within the implant shell, minimizing the risk of leakage into the surrounding tissues. Gummy bear implants are FDA-approved for women aged 22 and older.

Round implants – either saline or silicone – are the most commonly preferred shape and do not rotate in your breast pocket. Women who desire more breast fullness at the top of their breasts often opt for a moderate profile, round implant with a smooth shell.

    What are the potential complications?

Like with any plastic surgery procedure, understanding the possible complications of breast augmentation is essential to making informed decisions. While breast augmentation is generally safe, potential complications can include infection, bleeding, and adverse reactions to anesthesia.

There is also a risk of capsular contracture, where scar tissue forms around the implant, causing it to harden. Other possible issues include implant rupture, poor scarring, changes in nipple or breast sensation, and dissatisfaction with the aesthetic outcome.

Choosing an experienced and skilled surgeon with thousands of satisfied patients like at Aesthetics MD minimizes these risks for a safe and satisfying result.

How much does breast augmentation cost?

The cost of breast augmentation varies widely and is dependent on the techniques used and any additional surgeries such as a breast lift that is needed to deliver the best outcome. Financing options are also available through Patient Fi, Care Credit, and more to make your aesthetic procedure more affordable.
