Dr. Anton grew up in Rancho Cucamonga, California where his father, Achilles Anton, was the first family doctor to the area.
It seems a natural assumption he would become a doctor like his father and his older brother. Yet, his path towards medicine didn’t become clear until his last year of college when he combined his passion for helping people with his passion for biology. After graduating Magna Cum Laude in Biology, he began medical school with the intention of becoming a pediatrician or a family doctor. Not until his first rotation in general surgery did the “lights go on” and he discovered how much he loved combining the creativity of working with his hands with the technical challenges of surgery.
Dr. Anton blends a keen eye for three-dimensional aesthetics with his knowledge of anatomy and physiology. “Plastic surgeons,” he explains, “are essentially the tissue specialists. We combine our knowledge of tissue and sculpting in order to optimize the result.” In 2013, Dr. Anton was selected for his achievements and patient care as one of Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors. This is an honor bestowed on a select few and decided upon by a private review board. In 2014 he was selected as a Top Doctor for Orange County.
For the past two decades, Dr. Anton has been donating his time to Operation Smile (OS), a non-profit organization that travels the globe offering free surgeries for children with cleft lip, cleft palate, and other facial deformities. Dr. Anton met the founder of Operation Smile, Dr. William Magee and his wife Kathy when the two were in Virginia where they completed a Facial Fellowship. Since his first mission with OS in 1999 to war-torn Liberia, Dr. Anton has made several more including one to Haiti after the devastating earthquake in 2010.
Dr. Anton holds a Bachelor of Science, Magna Cum Laude, from Tufts University and a Doctorate of Medicine from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He received top marks in his anatomy class, a precursor to his uncanny abilities in plastic surgery. His general surgery training and plastic surgery residency were completed at William Beaumont Hospital in Michigan.
Dr. Anton is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, California Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Board of Plastic Surgeons, American Board of Medical Specialties, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
After residency, he completed a Fellowship in facial surgery at the Eastern Virginia School of Medicine in Norfolk, VA and a breast surgery Fellowship at St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
Dr. Anton was selected amongst a competitive group of his peers to participate in Breast and Facial Fellowship programs before beginning his practice in Newport Beach, California. From July to December in 1989 he completed a Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Fellowship in Eastern Virginia School of Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia. His mentor, Dr. William Magee, founded Operation Smile along with his wife. Later, Dr. Anton would reunite with his mentor to serve on several international Operation Smile missions.
Following his Facial Fellowship, Dr. Anton was accepted into a Breast Fellowship at St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. From January to June in 1990 Dr. Anton trained with Dr. Carl Hartrampf, known as the father of the modern-day breast reconstruction. Together with Dr. Hartrampf, Dr. Anton co-created the StarFlap Nipple Reconstruction, still today the most widely used procedure in breast reconstruction surgery.
Dr. Anton applied his advanced Fellowship training to his cosmetic practice in Newport Beach, quickly becoming one of the most noted surgeons for face and breast procedures. He was voted a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, Best Plastic Surgeon in the West in 2019 and Best Facelift Doctor in Los Angeles, 2018.
He is one of the only plastic surgeons in the country who has completed a fellowship in both face and breast surgery. Because of Dr. Anton’s extensive training, reputation, and results, his plastic surgery practice encompasses a full spectrum of surgical procedures involving the face, breast, and body.
Dr. Anton has been in private practice for over two decades in Newport Beach, CA. As the author of numerous scientific publications, he has presented papers at a number of national conferences.
