BRACHIOPLASTY
CASE OVERVIEW
This patient was unhappy with hanging, loose skin on her arms. With menopause, it seemed to get worse and she found herself hiding her arms in clothing. She was also bothered by crepey skin on her arms. Dr. Anton performed a Bilateral Brachioplasty, also known as an “Armplasty” to remove the excess skin on her upper arms. Liposuction reduces fat in the arms for a smoother more defined shape. Results of an Armplasty are immediate but healing takes several weeks and several months for the scars to fade.

PRIMARY CONCERNS
This patient was in her late fifties when she came in for a consultation with Dr. Anton regarding excess and loose skin on her arms. “I had bad bat wings. I stopped wearing sleeveless tops and was hiding my arms in clothes.” She admits to being in a crisis moment in her life that led to a lot of weight gain and loss of muscle mass. Every picture she looked at all she saw was hanging skin. “I felt terrible about myself and I needed something to make me feel better about myself and my body.” A friend told her about Dr. Anton and shared her surgical results. “I had never seen something that looked that good, so I asked her who was her guy, and she told me about Dr. Anton.” She also wanted to address her sagging breasts after pregnancy and thick ankles or “cankles”.

In surgery Dr. Anton performed a Bilateral Armplasty to remove the excess skin and underlying fat in her arms and improve the texture of her crepey arms. The scar runs along the inside of her arm from the armpit down to the elbow and continues to improve for up to 1 year after surgery. Liposuction is applied to further define the shape of the arm.
