BREAST AUGMENTATION

CASE OVERVIEW

This 49 year-old patient from Orange County, California is a mother of three who always wanted a Breast Augmentation but one thing after another kept coming up. “After my kids I just didn’t have the money. Then a divorce. Then it was something else. Then my daughter got a Breast Augmentation with Dr. Anton and I was jealous, jealous, jealous!” At 49 she decided it was finally her turn and she followed in her daughter’s footsteps to Dr. Anton’s office.

PATIENT PROFILE

AGE: 49

PRIMARY CONCERNS

This patient was concerned with her small breasts that had lost volume due to pregnancy and breastfeeding. “I was flat, flat. I was a negative. All you saw was skin and nipples.” Her clothes didn’t fit right. Strapless bras would fall down to her waist, and she lived in Victoria Secret miracle bras with the extra padding. Living in Orange County, she had seen what she describes as a lot of “phony looking boobs” and did not want that. She wanted her breasts to be proportionate to her petite body, not too big, and natural looking. Although her breasts were small, they were well-contoured and had a good shape, not requiring any sort of a lift for her desired result.

CONSULTATION & ASSESSMENT

The patient had never had any plastic surgery done, but had met Dr. Anton earlier when her daughter had a Breast Augmentation. “I remember telling him to not make my daughter look fake. One of my girlfriend’s daughters went to a different surgeon who was cheaper. She looks terrible. Now she can’t afford to take them out.”

She had no question, after seeing her daughter’s results, that when she was ready to have a Breast Augmentation Dr. Anton was the right surgeon. During her consultation with Dr. Anton, she stated she would like to be a large B to small C cup because she felt that would be in proportion to her petite frame. He recommended the Natrelle SCM cohesive implant because it reduced the risk of rippling given that she was thin and had a small frame. At her pre-op sizing appointment, she and the Clinical Coordinator decided on an implant range of 250cc to 300cc and she provided photos of ideal breasts that represented the size she desired. She also noted that she did not want the implants to sit too high on her chest.

TREATMENT PLAN

– Bilateral Breast Augmentation

In surgery Dr. Anton placed 255cc Natrelle moderate profile SCM smooth silicone gel implants under the muscle through an IMF (inframammary fold) incision. He used Exparel in surgery to reduce post-operative pain for up to three days after surgery. The patient was placed in a support bra with an ACE bandage across her chest.

“My friends ask if the surgery was painful and I tell them not at all. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.” Because she opted for Exparel, an intraoperative pain medication that numbs the area up to three days after surgery, she found her recovery to have minimal pain. She followed the Breast Implant Moving Exercises for several weeks after surgery to encourage the implants settling into place. Today, no more padded miracle bras for her. She is a perfect small C cup.”
