CASE STUDY
BREAST REVISION
CASE OVERVIEW
This 51 year old patient was unhappy with the way her breasts looked after having a previous surgery one year prior with a different surgeon. “They looked bad. You couldn’t tell when I was in clothes or a bra, but when I stood naked, they just looked bad.” She was also unhappy with the size of her breasts. Her previous surgeon told her she couldn’t go any larger. “When I met with Dr. Anton he told me I could go as big as I wanted and said to bring pictures of what I liked, what was too small or too large. I thought that was brilliant. No other surgeon I met with suggested it.”
PATIENT PROFILE
AGE: 51
PRIMARY CONCERNS
This patient had two previous breast surgeries. The first was 25 years earlier before having kids and she was ready to “upgrade” because as she explains, “they were “basically worn out.” She had a second breast surgery with a different surgeon and the results were disappointing. “The implants were misplaced and smaller than what I wanted.” Dr. Anton also discovered that she also had capsular contracture, and the right breast appeared to be shifting too much in the pocket. Dr. Anton recommended a Bilateral Breast Revision with an Exchange of Implants.
CONSULTATION & ASSESSMENT
The patient found Dr. Anton online and scheduled a consultation after reading through his reviews and seeing his before and after photos. “After I met with him and the staff, I felt that it was the right place for me.” During the consultation, Dr. Anton diagnosed her with bilateral capsular contracture. She didn’t have any pain with her contracture, but she was unhappy with the shape of her breasts. She explained that she also didn’t like the size and was told by her previous surgeon she couldn’t go any bigger. “I like that Dr. Anton asked me what I wanted, what the problem was and told me how he was going to take care of it. He gave me a lot of confidence in his ability.” Before surgery she submitted several photos depicting her ideal breast size. “No other surgeon I spoke with recommended sending in photos. I thought that was brilliant.”
“It’s true what they say that you get what you pay for. I paid more for my surgery with Dr. Anton than I did with the second surgeon, but for me it’s worth every penny.”
TREATMENT PLAN
– Bilateral Breast Revision/Exchange of Implant
– IMF revisions
– Bilateral Inferior Capsulectomies
In surgery Dr. Anton removed 415cc Sientra silicone implants. He discovered that the right implant had been placed upside down, which was causing the irregular movement in her right side. He performed bilateral inferior capsulotomies to correct the bilateral inferior capsular contracture. When this occurs, it shortens the lower breast curve and distorts the shape of the breast. After revising the pocket and tightening it, he placed 560cc smooth moderate profile Natrelle SCM implants to give her the added volume she desired.
PATIENT RESULTS
HOW DO YOU FEEL AFTER YOUR PROCEDURE?
“The pain was definitely nothing like my first breast surgery. Actually, it was a pretty easy recovery. I didn’t even take any of the pain medications that were prescribed to me.” She followed the Breast Implant Moving Exercises for several weeks post operatively as the implants settled into place. These also help to reduce the risk of capsular contracture in the future. Now when she looks at her naked breasts, she likes what she sees. “I’m very happy. He did a great job!”
