Some medications, lifestyles, and medical conditions may restrict or prohibit treatment. One of our skin care experts will determine if you are a candidate for microneedling by reviewing your health history and lifestyle with you.

CONSULTATION, PREPARATION & PROCEDURE
Before treatment you will have a microneedling consultation with skin care experts to determine if you are a candidate and the number of treatments needed for desired results. Microneedling is a 30 minute “lunch time” treatment with little to no social downtime.
At the time of your appointment, one of our skin care providers will cleanse the face and degrease it with alcohol pads. A topical numbing cream is applied then removed before beginning the treatment. During treatment, micro-needles on the handheld device penetrate the skin’s surface, creating thousands of tiny micro-channels. Most of our Newport Beach Microneedling patients report no pain during or after their skin rejuvenation treatment.
A Zimmer cooler is on hand if needed for additional comfort. Patients are advised not to wear makeup or sunscreen after treatment as the skin is very porous and this allows for the topical solution applied during treatment to penetrate more deeply into the dermis. Patients with a history of cold sores will be treated postoperatively with prescription medication.
The procedure typically takes about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the treatment area. Most patients benefit from three and up to six aesthetic treatments performed 4-6 weeks apart for optimal improvements in skin quality.

MICRONEEDLING RECOVERY
Following the session, you may experience mild redness and sensitivity for a few days, but most patients can resume their normal activities within 24-48 hours.
After your microneedling session, expect mild redness and potential swelling for up to 24 hours but recovery is generally quick and easy compared to invasive skin treatments. Keep the skin hydrated and avoid scrubbing or exfoliating for five days. Sunscreen should be worn during and after recovery, even when indoors.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
Within a few days after your treatment the skin will have a beautiful glow and feel softer to the touch. Continue to hydrate your new supple skin with an HA product like CORE raindrops or b-quenched. Avoid retinols or harsh chemicals for 5-7 days. Optimal improvement is 30 days following your final treatment after fresh collagen forms and a youthful complexion is restored.
