Three to four days before your treatment, begin to hydrate with water and electrolytes. Hydration enhances the results of your NeoGen Plasma by allowing the body to absorb the Plasma energy. We recommend no alcohol the night before treatment or coffee and other caffeinated products on the morning of treatment, as those can dehydrate the skin.
Two days before your NeoGen treatment, you will come into the office for photos and a 30-minute treatment to stimulate oxygen and nutrients to the cells. On the day of your procedure, your specialist will apply a topical numbing cream to the target area to ensure your most comfortable experience. While the anesthetic takes effect, your specialist will adjust the machine's settings according to your needs.
Once you are ready, they will use a handheld device to administer the nitrogen plasma to your skin. While you will experience a warming and slight snapping sensation, most patients find NeoGen treatment comfortable. A NeoGen session can take anywhere from thirty minutes to over an hour, depending on the size of the treatment area. Treatment for the whole face typically takes 45 minutes to an hour. We then apply a CO2 lift mask to your face to increase oxygen and blood flow to the treated area. Before you leave, we apply a soothing moisturizer to your skin like Aquaphor. We refer to this healing period as social recovery, meaning you will be comfortable going to the grocery store, running errands, and returning to work but not attending a major social event like a wedding. Depending on the depth of your plasma treatment, you should expect a social downtime of 3-7 days. For the first few days, your skin will be red and tender. You will need to follow your doctor's instructions closely, keeping your treated skin clean and hydrated with Aquaphor or a similar product and plenty of fluid intake. Your treated skin will begin to darken before sloughing away to reveal fresh new skin beneath. We recommend no exercise for five days following treatment to optimize the growth factors stimulated in treatment. It is important to stay out of the sun for at least seven days following treatment.
